Sailors used to take them home in the 1850s. Tokens of love, colorful handcrafted framed shell compositions, memories of a successful voyage. Now in the 21st C. the tiny shells are collected from a beach by villagers in the Alor archipelago in the Moluccans. Artists compose and expertly frame the shell pictures. More detailed than many antique museum originals, they show our respect for history combined with a quest to improve upon and make things of lasting value.
